Who, How and When
The West Edinburgh Link is one of the winners of Sustrans Scotland’s 2017 Community Links PLUS competition, now known as Places for Everyone. Places for Everyone is an opportunity to conceptualise, design and deliver exemplary and inspirational walking, cycling and placemaking projects in Scotland.
Who’s behind the project and how is it funded?

The project is match funded by the Scottish Government and the City of Edinburgh Council.

Sustrans is the charity making it easier for people to walk and cycle.

The national transport agency for Scotland funds Places for Everyone through Sustrans Scotland.

Aecom are the design consultants.

2019 – Project development
- Route treatment and appraisals
- Technical surveys and data collection

- Community councils meetings
2020 – Design proposals finalised. TRO process commenced
2021 – Technical design & Pre-construction starts. TRO Process ends
